III. Summary of responsibilities

This position is primarily held responsible for organizing and implementing activities related to:

• Providing training and technical support to farmers
• Implement trials and collect and report data
• Data collection form farmers or other actors in a supply chain
• Support introduction of new agricultural technologies

The responsibilities range from implementing extension strategies (farm monitoring, farmer training, organize field days etc.) to improving the local agricultural production systems by introducing new production techniques to farmers. Furthermore, this position will support data collection in relation to our projects and support the implementation, data collection and reporting of trials to test new technologies. The Agronomist shall develop and maintain an extensive network within the agriculture sector (farmers, private sector, governmental institutions, NGO’s, etc.) that will support access to know-how and support implementation of our projects.

IV. Duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Implementation of assigned tasks of Fresh Studio projects in the Mekong Delta, ranging from:
  • Data collection form farmers and other parties involved in a supply chain
  • Setup and monitor trials of various crops
  • Provide technical support to farmers and farmer groups
  • Provide training to farmers and farmer groups
  • Arrange field days to share new knowledge and technologies to local farmers and other interested persons
  • Support farmers in record keeping
  • Coordinate and ensure correct installation and operation by farmers and farmer groups of agricultural technologies provided to them
• Support any other assigned activities

Desired qualifications:

Minimum Educational Requirement:

• Graduated from college/university of Horticulture/Agriculture (BSc), experience in the production of vegetables and fruits, experience in the training of famers is an advantage.

Language:

• Excellent in both verbal and written Vietnamese
• English communication and writing skills are an advantage

Special Skills Required:

• At least 2-year experience with vegetable and or fruit production
• Good communication skills (with local farmers)
• A strong passion to learn and develop new agriculture technologies and knowledge and make them available for farmers
• Basic word, Excel, PowerPoint skills
• Ability to work on your own as well as part of a team
• Trustworthy
