The mission of our business development department is to help clients in the agricultural sector build their businesses in South-East Asia. Our support includes collecting information, identifying potential partners, and working with clients to develop and implement a business plan in line with their needs. Over the past 10 years, we have provided insight and solutions to clients at all levels in the value chain – including input suppliers, farmers, trading companies, and retailers – to successfully develop their businesses.

Sector study

Our team will help you to identify trends in the sector and assess potential opportunities and threats. We do not limit ourselves to desk study, but go out into the field to talk directly to farmers, traders, and processors. By doing so, we not only obtain more precise information on production volumes, quantities, and areas of production, but also have an opportunity to identify potential partners for your business.

Sourcing system assessment

An optimally performing sourcing system requires close coordination between all supply chain partners. We work across the chain, collecting information from all supply chain partners, assessing strengths and weaknesses, and identifying alternatives, to reduce the barriers between parties in the supply chain and ensure that your sourcing system is effective and efficient. As an external party we bring a fresh perspective, while building on years of experience with sourcing systems.

Business plan development

We work with you in the formulation of your value proposition and provide support with translating that proposition into an actionable business plan. By identifying the critical success factors and quantifying risks, we provide tailored advice on how to choose the model which maximizes control where necessary and minimizes exposure where possible.

Proof of concept

Before rolling out a new approach to your entire value chain, we offer the opportunity to pilot test it in a controlled environment. The pilot allows for a feedback loop that minimizes investment while providing opportunity for adjustments to ensure that the new approach fully meets expectations. Once the pilot has demonstrable results we work with you to share these results across your supply chain, convincing partners through the documented benefits achieved. Our team is experienced in coordinating between different stakeholders, testing potential improvements, and converting best practices into standardized operating procedures.

Upscaling

Whether it is rolling out a successful pilot project or expanding your core business, a period of upscaling brings about unique challenges while requiring significant additional resources.
