Between the rainy days in Ho Chi Minh City Fresh Studio organized together with its client Zespri a special Consumer Event called ‘Wake Up with Zespri kiwifruit’ in one of the larger shopping malls in the city.
This event was organized to bring an interactive and pervasive Zespri brand experience to participants by entertaining and educative activities. The event reached over 3,000 visitors.
Interactive brand experience
During 1 whole day from 9 to 10 PM visitors of the AEON shopping mall could enjoy games such as basketball, sack jumping and puzzle games. The games were created for (1) entertainment and (2) to educate visitors of every age about the origin and the nutrition of New Zealand kiwi fruit.
The interactive brand experience was furthermore translated into a real-life orchard for visitors to experience, play and learn about how the Zespri kiwi fruit is grown in New Zealand.
Online brand activation
A special area was set up where people could take photos (read: selfies) with famous Zespri landmarks such as the New Zealand kiwi orchards and the giant kiwi fruit in Te Puke. Visitors created a buzz about Zespri online by sharing their photos on Facebook using hashtags such as #ZespriVN, #Zesprikiwifruit, #Zesprikiwi.
Besides games and photo areas the daily program included dance teams and several cooking shows on stage where kids were able to cook small dishes for their parents by the helping hand of a professional chef.
With Fresh Studio leading the Vietnamese campaign, the volume growth of Zespri in the Vietnamese market has been impressive. The marketing activities, such as this event, have significantly driven and contributed to the double-digit year-on-year sales growth since 2008.

In collaboration with New Zealand Trade & Enterprise, Fresh Studio brings Zespri Kiwifruit straight to the Filipino audience. The largest kiwifruit marketer in the world was featured in a three-day event that showcased the best products from New Zealand.
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise organized its annual trade fair that showcased and promoted New Zealand companies, products and services in the Philippines. Held at the Glorietta Mall grounds in Makati City, the event ran from June 20-22, treating visitors to a diverse range of food, non-food items and other activities.
Together with NZTE and Zespri’s Philippine importer, Fresh Studio introduced the latest Zespri variety to consumers visiting the event – SunGold Kiwifruit. The activity was a combination of product sampling and selling.
The objective of the event was to promote Zespri SunGold – provide significant exposure to the brand and allow Filipino consumers a first-hand experience of Zespri’s latest product in the market.
Very warm reception for Zespri SunGold
Zespri SunGold had a very warm reception from the Filipino audience. The distinct tropical sweet and refreshing qualities rightly match the Filipino palate. All throughout the event, visitors enjoyed and attest to a pleasantly unique and delightful flavor. Staffs were available on the ground as well to complement this experience with a consistent message of health – Zespri Kiwifruit is truly one of the world’s most nutritious fruits.
Before the end of the 3-day event, visitors gave an overwhelming response: SunGold inventories were sold out, with still many customers clamoring for more!
To introduce Zespri® SunGold kiwifruits to potential business customers, Fresh Studio organized two launching events in HCMC and Hanoi. These kick-offs are part of the marketing activities for New Zealand’s kiwifruit season 2014.
Zespri® SunGold is considered the strategic product of New Zealand kiwifruit under the brand name Zespri from this year in Vietnam. It has been developed based on the techniques of natural hybridization between different varieties of kiwifruit. The rich sources of nutrients like Vitamin C, fiber, folate and potassium make Zespri® SunGold a “Super fruit’.
The launching events occurred on the first two weeks of June – as the start of the Zespri kiwifruit season. It attracted participants from all levels of sales channels ranging from importers, fruit wholesalers, supermarkets, shop owners and press. The conference provided the participants with information about Zespri company, Zespri® SunGold, nutritional facts, and techniques to preserve and prepare the new variety for retail. The information presented can help business customers become more confident in successfully selling Zespri® SunGold.
